The Public Safety Communications Center is staffed with 11 full-time telecommunications operators. Dispatching responsibilities include Aransas County Sheriff's Office, Rockport Police Department, Aransas County EMS, Volunteer Fire Departments, and all state law enforcement agencies, working in Aransas County.
Communications is a vital link between the patrol division on the street and the public. The center dispatches for all public safety entities that are dispatched throughout the City of Rockport and Aransas County.
All operators are responsible for call handling including 9-1-1 calls and have the ability to connect callers to surrounding agencies as needed. Operators are also trained and licensed to use the TLETS/NLETS state computer, which allows for 24 hour access to state and national records to assist law enforcement.
